About Us

The Boys & Girls Clubs of East Mississippi having been at the forefront of youth development in our community for more than 27 years, has actively sought to enrich the lives of girls and boys whom other agencies have difficulty reaching.  Today, more than 2000 at-risk young people are taking advantage of the programs, activities and services offered by the Club.  Our vision is to provide members a world-class experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.  We are dedicated to ensuring that our community’s disadvantaged children have greater access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and shape their futures.

Headquartered in the West End neighborhood of Meridian, BGCEMS offers after-school and summer programs at four units in the City of Meridian, Lauderdale County—West End Unit
(45th Avenue), Velma Young Unit (Velma Young Center), Northeast Unit (Northeast Elementary School)  and our newest site, Southeast Unit (Southeast Middle School).  It is with great pleasure
that we announce the re-opening of the Boys & Girls Club of Neshoba County (Philadelphia) under the umbrella of the Boys & Girls Club of East Mississippi.  The Club officially opened on Monday, January 12, 2015. The hours are from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm for kindergarten – sixth grade at the Philadelphia Elementary School.  We are currently accepting applications for all children.

The Club also operates one of the most active sporting leagues in the region, offering youth opportunities to play baseball (14 teams), football (14 teams), softball (15 teams) and basketball (22 teams). These leagues have become a vital part of our operation, mainly because they serve as an incentive for good grades and behavior.

There is no other organization outside of the school district that provides the breadth and depth of programming offered by the Boys & Girls Clubs on a daily basis or has the same amount of regular contact with our community’s youth and their parents.

The Club is open a minimum of 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, for the after-school program. During the months of June and July, we are open a minimum of 10 hours per day, Monday through Friday. In addition to the regular hours listed above, the staff and volunteers serve as coaches at night and on weekends for our sporting leagues.
